LET ME DIE THE DEATH of the RIGHTEOUS
date of message 9/26/10
Numbers 23:10
. 7And he took up his parable, and said, Balak the king of Moab hath brought me from Aram, out of the mountains of the east, saying, Come, curse me Jacob, and come, defy Israel.
8How shall I curse, whom God hath not cursed? or how shall I defy, whom the LORD hath not defied?
9For from the top of the rocks I see him, and from the hills I behold him: lo, the people shall dwell alone, and shall not be reckoned among the nations.
10Who can count the dust of Jacob, and the number of the fourth part of Israel? Let me die the death of the righteous, and let my last end be like his!
11And Balak said unto Balaam, What hast thou done unto me? I took thee to curse mine enemies, and, behold, thou hast blessed them altogether.
12And he answered and said, Must I not take heed to speak that which the LORD hath put in my mouth?
13And Balak said unto him, Come, I pray thee, with me unto another place, from whence thou mayest
see them: thou shalt see but the utmost part of them, and shalt not see them all: and curse me them from thence.
A. Here is  reqest by a man who had witnessed both sides of the issue of death.
He had seen many unrighteous people die, and he had seen the righteous die. He had stood,
as it were by the bedside of the dying and held their hand as they took their final breath.
B. He was a religous leader--- a prophet and this sis one of the main jobs of a man of God.---
stand with people in their times of grief and in the hour of death.
C. having seen the righteous die his prayerwas.
"Lord when it comes my tme to go, let me die likje the righteous".

I>  All of us are going to die.
Hebrews 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
1Corinthians 15:22  For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
A. We do not know, when, how or where it will happento us, but this we know, it will come to all of us.
It is not a question of "IF" but "WHEN".
B. Both the righteous and unrighteous will die..

II> Who are the righteous? There is more to being rigfhteous than being saved.

We have heard many make the statement that all they wanted out of God
and the Christian Life is to  miss Hell and go to heaven when they die.

If one is saved he will go to heaven when he dies, but there he will learn what a sorry excuse
he was for not being righteous after he became a Christian.
The word righteous means:
  1. To be Saved.
  2. To be seperated.
  3. To be serving.
  4. To be saturated. Saturated with the word of God

III> What death means to the righteous.
A. It is precious to God.
Psalms 116:15 Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints
B. It is going Home. 2 Corinthians 5 :1
1For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God,
an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
C.  A place of no mores... Revelation 21:4
4And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death,
neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

IV> testimonies from dying saints
A. Stephen Acts 7:56  56And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God.
B.Paul. 2 Timothy 4:6  . 6For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.
7I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: 8Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge
